When's that bbBBBABY DUE?!

If reading the title of this blog post wasn't a big enough hint to you as to what I'm about to write, then perhaps this picture will help:

Emily and I are going to have a baby! We found out just after 8:45 last night. We were stunned and didn't know if we should believe the test. In fact, we're still not 100% sure that the test is accurate. Although Emily did take a second one, which also came up positive. Also, the instructions said that it could take three minutes for the results to appear, but the results showed up extremely fast both times.

A long time ago, we talked about what we would do when we found out that Emily was pregnant. We decided that we would wait before telling anybody, but once it became a reality, we wanted to tell people! I felt like it was important that Emily's parents be the first people we tell, so I set up my microphone to record the conversation and we tried calling them, but they didn't answer. We waited a few minutes, tried again, and there was still no answer. Tried a little later, no answer again. We tried to keep ourselves occupied by playing Dr. Mario Online Rx, but my Wiimote batteries died, so we stopped. We were fairly antsy and all we could talk about was the fact that Emily was pregnant! In a way I'm glad that Emily's parents didn't answer at first because it gave me time to re-arrange my microphone setup so that the quality of the recording would be better.

Finally at around 10:50 PM, Emily's dad answered the phone! I have a clip of that conversation. Unfortunately, it's a little bit hard to hear Emily's parents. I should've used two microphones -- one for Emily and one for the phone, but I just used one. Oh well; now we know for next time! Here's the clip:

As you can tell, it was pretty easy for Emily to give the news to her parents. But when I tried telling my family, it was a lot harder! My sister, Jacquelyn, happened to be visiting from California. In fact, she had just arrived that same night. That being the case, I wanted to somehow get them to put me on speakerphone with Jacquelyn and both of my parents listening, but without them knowing what was up. When you listen to the clip from that conversation, you'll see what a challenge that was! And by the way, I'm quite aware that what I was saying about having to repeat myself made no sense, but I was put on the spot! One more thing you should know is that we have a lot of plans for the weekend that Jacquelyn is in town, so when I say that I want to talk about the plans, that's what I mean. Here's the clip:

That phone call started at around 11:07 PM, by the way.

Emily and I are both very excited! We'll keep you posted on how things progress.
